So, my daughter came home recently for her Thanksgiving break from college. And yes, I was super excited about her visit! So what did we do before she came home? Well, we were running around, getting the house ready, of course. We decked the halls with Christmas decorations to welcome her home. We cleaned things up all around the house. And of course, we got her room ready. But I mean really ready. We dusted, we vacuumed, and I even grabbed that ceiling fan duster – now that’s a big deal!
In the midst of it all, I was reminded of John 14:2, where Jesus says:
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”
Jesus lets us know that for those who love Him, who have a relationship with Him, He goes before us to prepare a place for us. That’s mind blowing to me! No matter what I might do to get our house looking nice on this end, it won’t even begin to hold a candle to whatever Jesus is doing to get things ready for us when we get to see him face to face someday. I don’t deserve it…at all. But that’s one of the amazing things about grace – it’s not about what I do, but about how much Jesus loves His children.
Maybe it’s a tough time for you, where life is throwing a lot of challenges your way. Maybe you’re a little stressed about the financial challenges or family situations that the holidays hold. My encouragement? Find peace in the fact that whatever we’ve got going on this side of Heaven, Jesus has gone to prepare a place for those who love Him. It doesn’t make everything easy, but it does help keep things in perspective along the way.
But, He doesn’t just go ahead of us. He’s also walking with you through whatever you might be facing in these days and weeks ahead. Keep that in mind as you walk the road ahead, and be encouraged. Jesus’ amazing grace is there for you each step of the way.
